Most easy and simple tips that will help you Avoid Weight Gain in Winters

Winter is here and so are the chances of you putting on weight, easily and faster. Yes, all the hard work which you have put in all summer to burn that fat, to get that toned body and stay healthy, will go for a toss, courtesy cold weather, those warm and cosy blankets, comfort eating and late sleep. Sad but true.

But there are a few easy and effective ways by which you can avoid gaining weight in winters. Phew! That’s relief, isn’t? So, just keep scrolling down to know how to enjoy winters to the fullest without worrying about weight gain.

1. Do not stop working out

Agreed that chilly weather makes it difficult to exercise outside, but no matter how lazy you are feeling, you have to sweat it out. If not early in the morning, then exercise in the evening. And if going out is not possible, then workout in your house. Do skipping, yoga, follow a fitness CD, dance or do any other form of exercise, but do them. Walk to nearby places rather than driving till there, join some sports class or anything else, just find ways that will keep you moving and will help in burning calories.

2. Don’t go to party empty stomach

With the party season around the corner, you are most likely to overindulge. Why? Well, with so many types of lip-smacking and comfort food available on the counter, and to accompany your colleagues/friends, you are bound to overeat. The result is weight gain. But here is a simple solution – never go to a party hungry. Before you head out to a social gathering, have some carbohydrates like carrots, salad, apple, soup or any other high – fibre fruit or vegetable at home. This will keep your tummy full, and you will avoid stuffing yourself unnecessarily.

3. And also on other winter beverages

Who would not love to have hot chocolate with whipped cream on it in winters to keep oneself warm? Tempting it may sound but beware as they are laden with calories. Yes, some of your favourite winter drinks are spiked with calories. And no, it does not mean that you should stop drinking your favourite hot drinks but take them in a limited amount, and once in a while. And instead of large cup full-fat drink, opt for small cup skimmed milk hot drink. Also, stick to your regular tea, coffee and do drink green tea two to three times in a day.

4. Make green veggies your best friend

Yes, stock your fridge with cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, carrots, sweet potato and other winter veggies. Make these superfoods your best friend this winter because the more you will eat them, the more you will lose weight. So, add these nutrients dense greens every day in your meal to fight food cravings and weight gain. If possible, have vegetable soup and salad before dinner. Psst! Do not hesitate to indulge in your favourite high-fat desserts, puddings or comfort food to satisfy your taste buds, but only once in a week. After all, food should be enjoyed but within a limit.

5. Limit Your Intake of Sugary and Alcoholic Beverages

Sugary and alcoholic beverages can contribute to weight gain, as they are high in calories and can disrupt your metabolism. During the winters, it's easy to indulge in hot chocolate, eggnog, and other sweet treats, but it's important to do so in moderation. Try to limit your intake of sugary and alcoholic beverages and opt for healthier alternatives, such as herbal tea, water, or sparkling water with a slice of lemon.

6. Eat a Healthy and Balanced Diet

Eating a healthy and balanced diet is key to maintaining a healthy weight. During the winters, it can be tempting to indulge in comfort foods and holiday treats. While it's okay to indulge occasionally, it's important to make healthy choices most of the time. Focus on eating whole, nutrient-dense foods, such as fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains. These foods will help you feel full and satisfied, while also providing your body with the nutrients it needs to function at its best.

7. Practice Mindful Eating

Mindful eating is a technique that involves paying attention to your body's hunger and fullness cues, as well as your thoughts and emotions around food. During the winters, it's easy to mindlessly snack and overeat, but practicing mindful eating can help you avoid this. Before you eat, take a moment to check in with your body and ask yourself if you're really hungry. If you are, choose healthy and nutritious foods that will satisfy your hunger. If you're not hungry, find other ways to cope with your emotions or boredom, such as taking a walk, calling a friend, or doing a hobby you enjoy.

So, follow these simple tips and enjoy the winter to the fullest without worrying about the weight gain. These tips will definitely make you healthy, fit and happy.
